To create a new world where robot technology and employees work together to provide services to customers, we need to not only solve the technical issues, but also consider new services and store design that will become possible by the introduction of robot technology. Therefore, there will be two categories to the contest: a design category and a technical category. The technical category will be held as a trial event for the World Robot Summit, to be held in 2018 and 2020 by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).
What is World Robot Summit?
The World Robot Summit(WRS) will bring together the world’s most advanced robots and robotic technologies along with researchers and developers of robots and key government and private industry players from around the world. The Robot Excellence gathered here will face off in competitions and exhibitions (through competitions, demonstrations, discussions and award presentations) to show the changes that will take place in industry, society and daily life. It will be held in 2018 (Tokyo) and in 2020 (Aichi & Fukushima).
